A Perfect Day in Honfleur with Lulu the Pirate

This morning, it’s settled: you’re going to explore Honfleur. But not like hurried tourists rushing from one selfie spot to another. Guided by Lulu the Pirate, you’re about to experience an unusual family adventure filled with surprises, medieval lanes, hidden gardens, seaside paths and unexpected treasures.

This playful trail was designed for curious families — kids who love to climb, observe and guess… and parents who want to step off the beaten path without running a marathon. Lulu leads you through Honfleur as you play, at your own pace.

First Stop: the Vieux Bassin, of course!

You’re parked (outside the centre in summer if you want to keep things relaxed / at the Naturospace in low season), everyone has eaten, drunk, and used the restroom (you’ll find facilities at the pool car park): the adventure begins!

The starting point is the Vieux Bassin, the iconic postcard harbour — perfect to get straight to the good stuff. You can walk around now… or save this loop for the end, since the trail finishes here too. Choose whatever suits you best.

Cobblestone Streets, Gardens and Hidden Passages

You dive into Honfleur’s medieval lanes. The cobblestones are big and uneven — sturdy shoes are your friends here. Just a few steps away, Lulu reveals a secret garden with streams flowing everywhere, an invitation to slow down. The Vieux Bassin is still close by, so follow the path without hesitation.

Then Lulu guides you through a few surprising hidden passages. It’s also the perfect moment to choose your lunch spot. Restaurant or picnic — up to you! Just keep in mind that a longer walk awaits afterwards, leading to parks and even the beach. You set the rhythm, Lulu follows.

A Sweet Ending (Ice Cream Included)

Full circle: back to the Vieux Bassin for the final twist of the story. And if everyone deserves a reward, here’s an idea no one will argue with: an ice cream from the Ferme du Bois Louvet — some of the best in the region.

After a day like this, you’ll never see Honfleur the same way again. You’ll start noticing little details everywhere you go! If you spot some, tag us on Instagram @enpistelulu — we love seeing your discoveries.

Lulu Answers Your Questions

Without spoiling too much: the Vieux Bassin, of course, but also Saint-Léonard and Sainte-Catherine churches, several parks, and museums you’ll pass along the way.

Not exactly — it depends on park opening hours.

  • May 1 to August 31: 8 am–9 pm
  • September 1 to April 30: 8 am–7 pm

It requires a little endurance: about 4 km. For younger walkers, choose the Lulu the Shrimp tour— shorter and just as fun.

Yes. You can even do the trail over multiple days — you have access for one year.
